November 2019 | NWFC NEXT UPDATE: Our total fundraising goal is within reach!

Year End Matching Opportunity

We are beyond excited as work has begun on the Phase Two expansion just in time to host The Cascade Clash (Portland SYC) this February.

We still have a fundraising need in order to complete Phase Two fully but have a fantastic matching opportunity to announce today!

I am pleased to share that two veteran fencing families have generously partnered together for a matching challenge of up to $11,111. For every dollar you donate between now and December 31, these donors will match your gift - dollar for dollar - doubling your philanthropic impact.

You can make your tax-deductible gift online here, mail a check to the address below or contact me directly. Please make checks payable to NWFC and then specify "NWFC Next Expansion" in the memo section.

NWFC staff is overwhelmed by the generosity of fencers, families, board members, staff, volunteers, plus guest athletes & coaches, regional fencing clubs, and local partners. Our sincere thanks for the support and encouragement to help achieve another milestone in the history of Northwest Fencing Center.

Thank you in advance for your thoughtful consideration.

Larry Crepeaux
Executive Director, Northwest Fencing Center

Grant Opportunity

Thanks to the efforts of many volunteers and staff, the Washington County Visitors Association (WVCA) awarded NWFC a capital grant opportunity up to $100,000. WCVA Tourism Development Grants are awarded to non-profits attracting visitors to the community and contributing to the local economy. The projected project budget is $165,000 which means our job now is to raise the funds and complete the project.

  1. Raise the Funds - Our goal is to raise $165,000 in order to commence Phase Two! We hope you can help NWFC in this exciting time of growth and opportunity.
  2. Complete the Project - We only have six months to finish!
  3. Receive the $100,000 Grant - Please help us achieve the historic next chapter of NWFC!

Thanks to your help, we will have a more substantial, state-of-the-art facility to train more fencers and to host a fabulous range of local, regional, national, and international tournaments.

NWFC NEXT is our phased expansion plan to grow the next generation of fencers from the Portland-metro area, the Pacific Northwest, the country, and around the globe. NWFC has four plus decades of rich history featuring quality instruction, camps, classes, lessons, tournaments and competition success. We have expanded our footprint to almost 22,000 square feet of space to build on the past allowing us to host larger tournaments for all three weapons.

Phase One Completed - In the summer of 2018 by combining our original space with the vacant space next door and adding two new pods.

Phase Two Goal - To complete December 2019. Highlights are three finished fencing pods totaling 21 strips (12 full-size competition), exterior signage over new entrance, complete floor to ceiling wall between NWFC and the pub, open space for spectators and multi-use area and refurbishment of the two additional restrooms.
